Lenevo Set to Release Handheld Gaming Console

With enormous success stories from both Valve's Steam Deck and ASUS' ROG Ally, the handheld PC gaming industry is heating up

The handheld PC gaming market is booming thanks to the huge successes of ASUS’ ROG Ally and Valve’s Steam Deck.

Other long-standing competitors in the market, such as AYANEO, are doing well as well, and Microsoft has entrusted Xbox with improving the Windows experience on handhelds for this expanding segment. Now, it appears that another significant participant is set to enter the fray.

While information is scarce at the moment, we do know that it will employ AMD’s new Phoenix processors, which the chipmaker defines as ultra-thin and focused on gaming, AI, and graphics for ultrabooks. As a member of Lenovo’s well-known gaming “Legion” brand, the Legion Go’s use of Ryzen CPUs nearly guarantees that it will be a portable Windows gaming pc.

According to our sources, the Legion Go may include an 8-inch display, making it larger than the ASUS ROG Ally or the Steam Deck, all of which have a 7-inch display. PC and console games moved to PC are frequently designed for larger monitors or even TVs, and UI elements on smaller screens might be difficult to view, especially if the game lacks a UI scaling option. If the Legion Go stays light and balanced, which is still to be seen, a larger display would give it a competitive edge.

As of this writing, there is no information on when this device will be available for sale in the United States and other countries.
