My Family Was Thrown Out Because We Couldn’t Pay 18k for Rent- Singer, Crayon Reveals

The well-known artist Charles Chibuezechukwu, popularly referred to as Crayon, has claimed that a former landlord forcibly removed his family from his home when his parents were unable to pay the rent.

The incident, according to him, happened in 2013, and their house’s current rent was N18,000.

The ‘Trench To Triumph’ singer revealed that after being evicted from their home, they went to stay at the home of one of their church members only to find out that they too owed rent, and the landlord had also evicted them.

Crayon disclosed this in a recent interview with MTV Base.

Crayon explained, “Our church member was staying in a house before and she wanted to move out. And because they had set us a deadline to vacate our former residence, we [my family] were seeking a house.

We might therefore move into the residence, according to a church member. We were unaware that she was late on her rent. There was also a deadline. Due to the landlady’s insane behavior, my father had already signed a lease with the landlord.

“So, five days before the deadline, we moved, and then we got to [our church member’s] house.” It was still a ‘face-me-I-face-you’ situation. Then I believe one of the tenants called the landlord and said, ‘Yo, somebody just moved into your house.’ The landlord then arrived and threw our belongings out. We began pleading.

I was f*cking depressed when I saw my parents sob in front of another ordinary guy.

“Can you guess how much the rent was?” N18k. This was in 2013/14.”
