At Hollywood’s Paramahansa Yogananda Self-Realization Fellowship Temple on December 23, 1979, Doria, a native of Cleveland, tied the knot lighting director Thomas Markle Sr. In 1981, their daughter Meghan was born. When their daughter was two years old, the couple split up, and they became divorced in 1987.

Meghan was raised by both parents until she moved in with Thomas Markle full-time when she was 6 years old, while Doria sought a career in Hollywood.

Doria currently resides in a home she inherited from her father in 2011 in View Park-Windsor Hills, California.

She has travelled with Meghan to official functions and was present at her Berkshire, 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. On May 6, 2019, Doria became a grandmother. To visit her grandson Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and his parents, she took a plane to the UK.

She was present at Mountbatten-Windsor’s christening in July at Windsor Castle’s private chapel. Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, her grandchild, was born in Santa Barbara, California, on June 4, 2021.
