Mark Zuckerberg cancels cage fight with Elon Musk

Israel Adesanya, the reigning UFC world champion from Nigeria, has been training Mark Zuckerberg, a skilled jiu-jitsu practitioner

The top executive of Meta Platforms Inc., Mark Zuckerberg, announced on Sunday that he is moving on from the cage fight he had planned with Elon Musk. Mark claims that this choice was made as a result of Elon’s lack of seriousness.

“Elon knows how to get in touch with me if he ever wants to go on a real date and attend an official event. If not, it’s time to move on,” Zuckerberg wrote in a thread on Meta.

He continued by saying that he would concentrate on competing against individuals who would not back down from a challenge and would take the sport seriously.

Jiu-jitsu expert Mark Zuckerberg claimed to have suggested the fight’s date as August 26. Musk, on the other hand, responded to his remarks and provided an explanation for why he chose to postpone the date. The Tesla CEO asserts that he could need surgery before he can fight against Zuck.

How did Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk end up in a possible cage match?

The two biggest names in technology, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg ended up engaging in a highly anticipated fight in a cage. This occurred after Twitter user Mario Nawfal disclosed that Meta was getting ready to introduce a brand-new platform named THREADS.

A few weeks after Musk stated that there was a temporary cap on the number of messages users can read daily on Twitter, Meta introduced Threads, a new text-based social media platform to compete with Twitter.

As a retaliation, Twitter vowed to sue Meta for “the unlawful misappropriation” of its trade secrets. When it comes to opining, Musk, who is not one to hold back, had some things to say about Zuckerberg and Meta’s new invention. Musk proposed a cage battle in response to a second Twitter user’s warning regarding Zuckerberg’s skill in ju-jitsu.

Mark Zuckerberg announced on Facebook that he was ready for the cage match with the simple request, “Send me the location.” The public has been riveted by this conflict between tech CEOs, and interest in the prospective conflict is continuing to rise.

Following the first success of Meta’s Threads social networking platform in July, Musk and Zuckerberg’s public feud intensified. The site formerly known as Twitter, Threads, which functions similarly to Musk’s X and lets users to send messages, garnered 100 million followers within a week of its launch.

But only one short week later, on July 14, Threads’ daily active users had fallen to 23.6 million, a roughly 50% decline and only around 22% of Twitter’s audience. On July 7, users spent about 21 minutes on Threads, making the United States the country with the highest involvement.

Following this, on the days when Threads garnered the most attention, Twitter’s daily active users on Android remained fairly stable. The fact that less time was spent on the platform (4.3% less) suggests that some users were switching to the Threads app. The average amount of time spent on Twitter was still about 25 minutes despite this reduction.

“While there was intense interest in checking out the app initially, not every user has made a habit of visiting Threads as often as they might other social apps,” David Carr, senior insights manager at Similarweb, told CNBC.

The last style bender and middleweight UFC champion, Israel Adesanya, was seen working out with Mark during the build-up to the bout between the two powerful CEOs in preparation for his cage match with Elon Musk weeks earlier.

In a joint Instagram post, Zuckerberg and Adesanya were seen posing in the weight room with Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC featherweight champion. The three were dressed in battle gear and baring their chests; Zuckerberg appeared to be saturated in sweat. “No Fugazi with Mark,” the article’s caption stated.

It was a privilege to train with you guys, the CEO of Meta wrote in the comments.
