Shettima: Nigeria needs N21 trillion to make up for its housing shortage

On Sunday, Vice President Kashim Shettima revealed that despite efforts made at all three levels of government, Nigeria needs N21 trillion to fully address its housing shortage.

This was said by Shettima at Sokoto at the official groundbreaking for the State government’s 500-unit housing project.

The Vice President highlighted that Nigeria’s housing shortage remained a significant concern while praising Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his efforts to address the needs of residents in his State with regard to housing.

According to the vice president, “Nigeria has a 28 million house deficit, and we will need N21 trillion to meet our housing needs,”.

This move by the governor is highly admirable and deserving of imitation by other State administrations.

By finishing the highways and flyovers he inherited, the governor is off to a good start. The housing development would be for civil officials, and after it was finished, it would be sold to them on an owner-occupier basis. The governor had already explained this.

The project was started by the previous administration, but it was later abandoned, according to Aliyu Wamakko, the former governor of the state.

But we are committed to finishing it for the good of our employees and the general public as a whole.

Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, and other officials attended the ceremony to commemorate the administration’s first 100 days in office.
