I have always been rich, I only tasted poverty in my first marriage- Iyabo Ojo

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has said that her marriage to her ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, was the first time she ever experienced poverty.

In an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, Ojo revealed this while discussing her marriage to the father of her two children.

She claimed: “I didn’t even realize there were face-me-I-slap-you apartments when I initially visited my husband’s house. Most of the time, don’t hold the wealthy accountable for not understanding the issues facing the poor, as I have no idea what poverty is like.

“We had a commercial generator at my home. The light will be up once it turns off in a few seconds. One of the wealthiest women in those days was my grandmother. I had a car all to myself that took me to school and back home every day.

“When I married my ex-husband, that was the only time I had lived in poverty. At first, it was enjoyable. Like an adventure, it was. When I was 18, I had an account made for me since my grandfather had written his will such that money would be deposited into the account of the grandchildren. I was wealthy. As you might understand, I had roughly N100,000 in my account as of 1997/1998.
