I almost signed Oma Lay- Olamide reveals

Olamide Adedeji, better known by his stage name Olamide, is a Nigerian rapper and music executive. He recently explained why he declined to sign Omah Lay to his YBNL Nation record company.

At the beginning of his career, the YBNL chairman claimed he wanted to sign Omah Lay, but the musician told him he already had a deal with another label.

In an interview with British-Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, nicknamed Shopsydoo, Baddo, as he is affectionately known, revealed this.

“Someone sent me Omah Lay’s song, ‘Bad Influence,’ I had to look him up on Instagram,” Olamide stated. I sent him a message expressing my desire to sign him, but he replied that he already had a recording contract.

The rapper also admitted that he struggled with depression for nearly four years after his hit tracks ran out of steam.

However, he claimed that after producing singles like “Wo” and “Motigbana,” he regained his “swag.”

“As of right now, songs like WO, and MOTIGBANA feel magical to me. I believed that I would never regain my identity. I was losing my mind,” he claimed.
