We are separated not divorced: Jada Pinkett confirms split with husband, Will Smith

Jada Pinkett Smith, an American actress and talk show host, has publicly announced her split from actor Will Smith.

The 52-year-old said that since 2016, she and the star of “Bad Boys For Life” had been leading “completely separate lives.”

She revealed this in a segment from her upcoming Hoda Kotb and NBC News primetime program.

Despite having been apart for seven years, she claimed they are not officially divorced.

“While it wasn’t a divorce in writing, it was nonetheless a divorce. We have been living separately since 2016,” Pinkett stated, adding that they had not previously made their separation public because they were “not ready yet.”

A boy named Jaden and a daughter named Willow were born to the couple after their 1997 wedding.

Pinkett Smith acknowledged having a romantic relationship with musician August Alsina in July 2020 when appearing alongside her spouse on an episode of “Red Table Talk.”

In her explanation, Pinkett stated that her marriage was “going through a very difficult time” at the time of her “entanglement” with August.
