APC makes fun of Adeleke over Dino Melaye’s loss in the Kogi guber race

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominee Dino Melaye lost the Kogi State gubernatorial election, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke ought to learn from this.

Melaye was reportedly defeated in the 2023 Kogi gubernatorial election, with Usman Ahmed Ododo of the APC coming out on top.

During the election, Governor Adeleke headed the PDP campaign.

Tajudeen Lawal, the chairman of the Osun APC, also referred to Melaye’s loss as Adeleke’s political demystification in a statement he signed.

According to the statement, Adeleke’s political emptiness should be reflected in the metaphorical mirror that is the Kogi State gubernatorial election results. Given Melaye’s defeat as the PDP’s nominee for governor, Kogi State’s results this year may be similar to those of Osun State’s 2026 governorship contest.

Lawal clarified that Adeleke unintentionally brought political tragedy to Kogi State because the PDP’s national leadership, who nominated him as the campaign chairman, overvalued him.

“Those who thought Adeleke had a tried-and-true electoral plan, one that helped him and his party win the most recent Osun elections, would clearly see that the rookie governor was primarily dependent on good fortune. Despite using corrupt security personnel and political ploys to sway the electorate’s decision, he avoided punishment for his misbehavior during the elections.

“The consequences of the Kogi State governor’s race will undermine Governor Adeleke’s misplaced confidence in Kogi State.” He will probably be disabused of his assumption that leading the campaign would ensure another fraudulent election victory similar to what happened in Osun.

“I’m still pondering why Governor Adeleke didn’t reveal to his appointees, who entrusted him with the Kogi State governorship election campaign, that his victory was costly. Violence linked to the PDP claimed the lives of over thirty innocent state APC members.

As of right now, Adeleke and your allies have no way out. In the 2026 gubernatorial elections, my party, the APC, will attempt to remove you from power by any legal means possible.

“Considering your lack of sleep since your administration’s commencement around a year ago, it is evident that you have premonitioned that you are an illegal occupant of the Osun State Government House.”

Lawal reminded Governor Adeleke that people will use their cards to remove him from office in 2026, even as he urged Adeleke to give the state’s residents the N9 billion gasoline subsidy removal from the federal government.

He added, “Governor Adeleke will encounter resistance from the conscious members of society if he plans to postpone the Federal Government palliative until the first anniversary of his administration in a few days.”
