Rema responds to claims that he used “satanic” symbols at his recent concert in London

Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, is a well-known Nigerian singer. He has finally responded to claims that, on November 14, 2023, at his headline show at London’s 02 Arena, he used “satanic/Illuminati” emblems.

According to wakenews, Rema became the only African artist to sell out the busiest music venue in the world, joining Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake, who all sold out the 20,000-seat 02 Arena on Tuesday.

Rema’s use of “Illuminati” symbols has led some of his supporters who attended the event to accuse him of satanism on social media.

The superstar from Edo, however, responded via his X (formerly Twitter) page, explaining that the fake horse he rode on stage was a clone of a Benin artifact and that the mask he was wearing was a clone of the well-known Queen Idia mask.

It was believed that the fake bat he rode on stage during his second performance was a tribute to the bats that can be seen all over the Edo night sky.

Sharing a video from his contentious performance, Rema said, “RAVAGE UPRISING/ I rebuilt my ancestors’ bronzes because they sit in this city’s museum. Thus, the mask is reborn, Edo is redefined, the map is reshaped, and your minds are awakened. I’m grateful, London! 🦇🇬🇧

Concurrently, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has complimented Rema on his completely sold-out performance at London’s 02 Arena.

He declared that the state’s citizens are proud of Rema, “particularly his embodiment of the Edo heritage.”

“We are indeed proud of the enigma of @heisrema and what he has come to represent, especially his personification of the Edo heritage,” Obaseki wrote on his X handle. We salute his brilliance and rejoice with him as he storms the international scene.
