Breaking his silence, Fubara promises to defend the rights of the Rivers people

Amidst the political unrest in the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has finally spoken out.

Fubara said in a video that was uploaded on his official X handle on Friday to keep up defending the rights of the people of Rivers State.

In addition, he thanked the state’s citizens and pledged to lead an inclusive administration that respects the values of justice and equity for all.

The video message is being released against the backdrop of rising political unrest in Rivers State, according to Wakenews.

In recent two days, several of Fubara’s cabinet members have resigned; this development is connected to the governor’s disagreement with Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, minister Nyesom Wike, before him.

Additionally, 27 state assembly members switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was in power, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Assembly Complex was to be demolished, as directed by the Rivers State Government when the lawmakers defected.

The government used the 29 October “arson attack” against the Assembly Complex as justification for the necessity to construct a similar building.
