Tinubu approves N12 billion in unpaid bills for the Super Eagles and other parties

The payment of N12 billion to settle outstanding debts for the Super Eagles and other national teams across a range of sports has been approved by President Bola Tinubu.

This can be seen in a statement posted on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Center’s X account.

The announcement states that the payment will cover the senior national team coach’s salary, which might last up to 15 months, as well as any unfulfilled pledges and allowances owed to the female and Under-20 national teams and senior national teams.

The announcement says: “President @officialABAT has approved the payment of N12 billion that is still owed to Nigeria’s national teams, including the Super Eagles and other teams in various sports.

“The payment comprises paying allowances and commitments owed to the senior national teams, women, and Under-20 national team, as well as clearing the senior national team coaches’ salary for up to 15 months.

“This is happening while the Nigerian Super Eagles are getting ready to play in the Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to begin later this month.”
