I use to be a lecturer before I ventured into skit making- Zicsaloma

Famous skit creator Isaac Aloma, also known as ZicSaloma, has disclosed that he was a lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic but left to concentrate on developing skits due to his meager pay.

Aloma emphasized that he began his master’s program while performing his youth service and has always been driven to succeed in a recent podcast interview with actress Iyabo Ojo.

He clarified that he was hired as a lecturer at Kadpoly after his youth service.

While reflecting on the past before stardom, he revealed that he continued to try out for singing competitions and even took part in an episode of The Voice Nigeria while still a lecturer.

He described his attempt at making skits as “unplanned,” adding that he had to battle for three years before he could start getting any momentum.

“I started making skits unplanned,” Aloma stated.

Although I didn’t take it seriously, it was becoming more and more popular. Initially, I shared my skits on Facebook, and it appeared that my friends enjoyed them. They inspired me to take on more. I simply carried on. I worked at it for about three years. Although my fan base wasn’t expanding, those who enjoyed it did.

Then, when I joined TikTok during the shutdown, my content started to grow naturally.

When I told my supervisor that I was leaving my position as a lecturer, she asked, ‘Are you sure you know what you’re doing?’ I’m done giving lectures. What is the lecturer’s pay scale? [Laughs]

He went on to say that he wasn’t even successful when he resigned from his job as a lecturer.
