Labour party is not managed in the proper way- Sam Amadi

The Labour Party’s (LP) leadership has been deemed terrible by Dr. Sam Amadi, the director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought.

This was said by Amadi, a former head of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in response to Oluchi Opara, the party’s national treasurer, being suspended.

Reportedly, Opara was suspended by the LP on Wednesday by its National Working Committee (NWC) about 48 hours after she accused Julius Abure, the party’s National Chairman, of embezzling N3.5 billion in campaign funds.

According to Opara, N3.5 billion was raised in the run-up to the general elections of 2023 through form sales and fundraising initiatives.

At a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the party’s national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, responded to the accusation by announcing that Opara had been suspended for six months.

According to Ifoh, Opara is being influenced by outside forces and has simply read a press release that has been drafted by “our detractors to further tar the image of the party.”

Amadi remarked that the party needed leadership in a post on his official X account in response to the news.

Regretfully, the LP has been mishandled. There is a complete absence of guidance. Sure, the APC might have attempted to weaken it. However, its leadership has been appalling.
