Confusion in the state as three candidates emerge for Governor’s seat

In Edo state, the All Progressive Congress governorship election has taken a downturn as three contenders emerged for the position of Governor in the state.

The emergence of this three Governorship candidate as created confusion among many people who are now doubting the credibility of the whole electoral process.

Dennis Idahosa was first declared the winner by Governor Hope Uzodinma governorship primary committee, which confused them.

But the chaos intensified when Monday Okpebholo was proclaimed the main winner by Stanley Ugboaje, the returning officer.

The confusion was exacerbated late on Saturday night when Anamero Dekeri was declared the winner by local government return officers.

The local government returning officers report that Anamero Dekeri, who is presently serving as the representative for the Etsako federal constituency in the House of Representatives, received 25,384 votes, more than Dennis Idahosa, who received 14,127 votes.

Due to this change of events, the APC now has three candidates running for Edo State governor, raising questions about the legitimacy of the primary process and exposing internal party strife.

Concerns are raised over the party’s capacity to put up a cohesive front for the approaching September 21 governorship race in light of the contradictory statements.

The national secretariat of the party has not yet released an official statement regarding the situation.
