18 Lawmakers takes action to impeach speaker in Zamfara

In a remarkable turn of events, the Zamfara State House of Assembly is on the verge of impeaching its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, barring any unforeseen changes or political intervention.

A strong majority of more than two-thirds of Assembly members, or 18 MPs, have signed an official impeachment notification.

According to a source, the Assembly complex in Gusau is under intense protection, with armed police personnel stationed outside the main gate. The increased security measures are intended to prevent any potential disruptions of law and order.

The Seventh Zamfara State House of Assembly was inaugurated on June 13th, 2023, with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in command.
