House of Representatives passes peace corps bill

The need to create the Nigerian peace corps got an increment at the House of Representatives which passed a third and concluded bill which was to pass an act for the establishment of the security organization.

The Nigerian peace Corps Foundation Bill, which looks to give legal support to the current peace Corps of Nigeria under the initiative of Dr Dickson Akoh, was collectively passed by the tenth House on October 12, 2023.

In any case, under two months after the section, a movement for rescission on the Nigerian peace Corps (Foundation) Bill, 2023 (HBs 309 and 482) was continued on the floor of the House by Hon. Francis Forgo.

He noticed that after the entry of the Bill, new realities arose that will reinforce the capabilities and the functional construction of the Corps subsequently, the requirement for the House to cancel its choice on the Bill and commit once again it to the Board of the Entire for re-examination and section.

The Bill which was together supported by the Delegate Speaker, Hon. Benjamin Kalu and House Greater Majority Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere among others, looks to lay out the Nigerian Peace Corps as a body accused of the obligation to create, enable and give profitable work to young people to work with harmony, volunteerism, Local area Administrations, Neighbourhood Watch and Country building.

By this means, the Nigeria peace corps establishment Bill will be passed to the senate for concurrence and final passage to the president for assent.
