Burna Boy Loses Six Awards

Nigerian artist Burna Boy continued his bad performance at award shows, losing six nominations for the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.

The self-proclaimed ‘African Giant’ lost the Outstanding Male Artist of the Year award to Usher. His song ‘City Boys’ lost the award for Outstanding International Song to his countrymen Tems’ ‘Me & U.’

Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage lost the Outstanding Hip-hop/Rap Song category to Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Cobra,’ as well as Best Duo/Group Collaboration (Contemporary) to Chris Brown’s ‘Sensational’ featuring Davido and Lojay.

His record, ‘I Told Them…’, lost the Outstanding Album of the Year category to Victoria Monét’s ‘Jaguar II’.

According to sources, Burna Boy received seven nominations at the 2023 BET Hip-hop Awards, four at the 2024 Grammys, and one at the 2024 Brit Awards.

Meanwhile, Chris Brown’s ‘Sensational’ features Davido and Lojay, which won Best Duo/Group Collaboration (Contemporary) on night one of the 55th Image Awards, earned Outstanding Visual Album/Song on night two.
