469 SUVs: NNPP chieftain criticizes NASS members, saying you are ignorant to the suffering of Nigerians

Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has chastised members of the National Assembly for their intention to buy 469 sport utility vehicles at a cost of N160 million each.

According to Oguntoyinbo, such a measure demonstrates the parliamentarians’ indifference to the pain that regular Nigerians are currently going through.

These claims were made by him in a statement that wakenews obtained on Friday.

Wakenews notes that Sunday Karimi, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Services, stated that the 469 cars purchased by National Assembly members are perfectly acceptable.

However, Oguntoyinbo expressed in the statement his dismay at the lawmakers’ callousness.

“Many Nigerians are unable to feed themselves,” he stated. Poverty is the reason that many people die every day. A large number of students are leaving school early as a result of the current high rate of inflation. It is disheartening to observe our senators acting and thinking as though they do not reside in Nigeria. They are acting as though they have nothing to do with the suffering of Nigerians. They are morally reprehensible and incredibly callous to the plight of common Nigerians.

“If they are sensitive, they should be talking about cars that cost billions of Naira, even though the Naira to dollar exchange rate is embarrassing?” It is particularly disheartening that numerous lawmakers at the federal level are defending the costly acquisition of SUVs on poor roads throughout the nation.

“The poor roads are indicators that things are not going well in government, so that cannot be an excuse. We must inquire as to who, if not the Federal Government, of which the Senator is a member, is responsible for maintaining good roads.
