2023 has been a year of learning and growth for me- Fireboy DML

The Nigerian musician Adedamola Adefolahan, better known by his stage as Fireboy DML has given an explanation for why his musical career has been somewhat quiet in 2023.

After the release of his breakthrough song “Peru” and a remix featuring British superstar Ed Sheeran, the singer had an incredible run throughout the world in 2021 and 2022. He stated, “This year is one of those years where artists develop and step down from all the craziness.”

Fireboy recently stated, “2023 has been a year of learning and growth for me as a person and as an artist,” in an interview with Wat And Ers.

I simply have so much gratitude for the experience. I believe that this year has been the year for me to be thankful for the journey, as some people say.

It’s acceptable to acknowledge your humanity at times and to put aside your identity as an artist.

“With a real life and genuine issues, just like everyone else.” And I’ve learned to truly appreciate all of those things this year.

“This year has been rather quiet for me so it’s also giving me more time to spend more time with family at home in Lagos, Nigeria,” he said, adding that he hardly had time for his personal life the previous year.

“This year is one of those years where it’s necessary for artistes to grow and step down from all the craziness and just enjoy life and appreciate life for what it really is,” he continued, referring to how his hit song “Peru” impacted “my life and took me to so many places all at once.”
