Today, Ondo legislators are scheduled to appoint Aiyedatiwa, Akeredolu’s deputy, as acting governor

There are significant hints that today’s acting governor would be declared by the members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

This is in line with an Assembly source who verified that on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, legislators would reach a decision regarding Governor Akeredolu’s ongoing absence due to illness.

The congressman claimed that this was one of the agreements made at their meeting with President Bola Tinubu last Friday.

Tuesday is the House’s scheduled day of session, and it is during this time that Aiyedatiwa can be named interim governor. He stated that this was one of the outcomes of his meeting with President Tinubu.

Olamide Oladiji, the Speaker of the House, claimed to be at a meeting when he was called about the issue.

The Speaker said to Punch, “After the meeting, I will let you know whether the meeting will be held tomorrow because we are currently at a meeting.”

At the time this report was submitted, the Speaker had provided no information. Remember that in an effort to end the protracted political impasse in the state, President Tinubu met with the leaders of the Assembly and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo.

After leaving the meeting with Tinubu, the Assembly announced that it had decided not to proceed with the deputy’s impeachment due to allegations of serious misbehavior.

Aiyedatiwa further declared that he would bring all the parties involved with him and leave the past behind.
