The 2024 budget is intended to make Nigerians poorer—PRP

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) claims that President Bola Tinubu’s most recent budget proposal for 2024, which was presented to the National Assembly, was designed to keep the populace perpetually impoverished.

It stated that although claiming to have inherited an empty and bankrupt treasury, the government does not seem to be mindful of the state, as seen by its appointment-making practices in particular, which do not seem to indicate that the administration sincerely intended to offer “renewed hope.”

In a message released on Sunday under the headline “The Appropriation Bill: Seeing Beyond Semantics,” the party’s national chairman, Falalu Bello, urged Nigerians to have no hope for the 2024 budget.

He claimed that although the data and presumptions that supported the 2024 budget appeared solid on the surface, a close examination of the budget’s underlying assumptions made it abundantly evident that this administration was unprepared to grow the country.

Falalu believed that because this government does not offer a route to the bright future that Nigerians want, it remains a remnant from the past that is enviously guarding the few billionaires.

He declared: “This government does not have a route to the bright future that our country so desperately needs. It is still a holdover from the past that is enviously guarding the few oligarchs.”

However, given that the APC has been in power for eight years and that we have recommended Nigerians not to be reelected, this is not surprising.

“A careful examination and assessment of the sectoral distribution of funds further expose the caliber of thinking among those in government today, as well as their somewhat dishonest approaches to spending and revenue creation and their glaring lack of any strategic planning regarding how to effectively get us out of the doldrums.

Nigerians shouldn’t put their hopes in the 2024 budget as it has been viewed and examined in this speech to advance progress and safeguard their welfare.

“It is merely a cosmetic meant to elevate mediocrity and our people’s ongoing poverty. For Nigeria to remain a respectable place to call home, we hope that the Town Hall Meetings hosted by the two Houses of the National Assembly will provide a forum for hearing from Nigerians and addressing some of the concerns expressed by us and many other interested parties.
