Dark-skinned Omowunmi Dada, a Nollywood actress, recalled her early days in the Nigerian film industry and said it was a time when actors with light skin “got all the attention.”

In a recent interview with Channels TV, she disclosed this.

“For instance, the lion’s share of acting roles in the early days of my acting career would go to light skinned women.

In other words, if you are either half-cast or extremely fair [in completion], it caused many performers to modify their skin tones. Other than that, you won’t get cast in [important] parts.

“However, for those of us who maintained our integrity and let our skill shine, it took time, but now we are shining. Everyone wants girls with brown skin. Most significantly, our industry will undoubtedly see more brown skin girls on the screen now that the world has begun to accept our brown skin. So, brown skin is winning, despite the fact that you are naturally fair, she added.

The actress underlined the value of skincare, stating that having good skin makes you glow and make you appear attractive and successful.
