Ayra Starr

The rapidly rising Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has publicly apologized to King Sunny Ade, the iconic artist, after treating him disrespectfully at an event.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to vent their displeasure, dragging Ayra Starr for her disdain for the mother of artist Burna Boy and King Sunny Ade.

Ayra Starr had ignored Burna Boy’s mother in a widely shared video on the internet while greeting a woman seated next to her while proceeding to give Sunny Ade a handshake.

The singer apologized in public and explained herself in a post on her official X page on Saturday morning in response to the criticism she had received from social media users.

“I’m so sorry, I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves did not let me see but I came back to greet everyone properly. I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, I’m a proper Yoruba girl and the video didn’t start until after I had greeted Burna’s mom! I’m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade.”
