Hope Uzodinma tells PDP Governors that Nigeria cannot be compared to Venezuela

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors have received a warning from the governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) not to make any remarks that might agitate the populace against the federal government.

In response to a demand by the PDP governors for the APC-led federal government to step up and address the nation’s worsening economic hardship before it gets out of control, Hope Uzodinma, the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Instead of placing blame on one another, Uzodinma emphasized the necessity for cooperation in addressing the security and economic difficulties facing the country.

The governors of the PDP had bemoaned the present economic adversity that Nigerians were going through, maintaining that the country’s economic and security issues were to blame.

They also made a comparison between Venezuela and Nigeria.

Uzodinma urged the PDP governors to recognize President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to find long-term solutions, saying it was dishonest for people in positions of authority to play the role of ostrich during Monday’s press conference.

He insisted that the PDP governors’ meeting did not offer a single remedy, even if it listed several economic problems.

Uzodinma said: “Ultimately, the decision rests squarely with Nigerians and other organs in the country to ensure that we take actions that will bring relief to all of us.”

He said further: “I don’t know when they stopped supporting that economic policy, but they are familiar with the cliche that you cannot make an omelet without breaking an egg. We were all aware of the temporary hardship the policy would cause, but that will soon give way to prosperity.”
