Nigerian singer and songwriter Akinfenwa Donus, famously known as Joeboy has revealed that he was not ready for fame when stardom came.

He said he was so surprised when he’s hit song “Baby” became a very popular just after 3 months of being released.

He also revealed that when he became popular, he didn’t know that people would recognise him yet.

On the latest episode of Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast, the singer revealed that he had to move out of his neighborhood when the fame came to normalise his new lifestyle.

The singer said: “I wasn’t ready when ‘Baby’ blew. I had to adapt to get used to fame. It was so sudden. I dropped the song [‘Baby’] in March [2019], and by June I was already doing shows in countries I thought they don’t listen to Nigerian music. Countries like Tanzania, and Uganda. In three months!”
