I use to work in a pure water factory- Joeboy

Nigerian artist Joeboy has stated that one of the things that strengthened his will to become a renowned musician was his brief experience working at a sachet water factory during a strike while attending university.

He claimed that he was afraid he might not land a lucrative job after graduation due to the difficulties he had when looking for a job throughout his undergraduate years.

Joeboy stated on the most recent Afrobeats Intelligence Podcast episode Joeboy said, “I studied Human Resources and Personal Management. When I was in the university, there was a strike for like three months. So I decided to get a job and I was searching for a job for like three months in the whole of Lagos. I did not get one single job.

“There was even a time I worked in a pure water factory as a marketer. At that point I was like, ‘I’m looking so hard for a job and I can’t find any. Is this how I’m going to end up when I finish school?’ So that was also a trigger. I told myself, ‘You really have to make sure you make it [in the music industry].”

Joeboy described his life as a “Miracle” further revealing that his former record label boss Mr. Eazi did not want to sign him because of what some people told him but his life changed when he got signed to Empawa and his music career became popular.

The Nigerian music star said even his parents never envisioned him as becoming a successful musician.

Joeboy who has now left Empawa to start his own record label revealed that he had one of the biggest record label deals in Afrobeats history in the country.
