Davido set to pay Pinnick 30 million naira over breach of contract

Popular Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has consented to resolve the breach of contract lawsuit that Brownhill Investment Company Limited, led by Amaju Pinnick, the immediate past president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), filed against him in the High Court of Delta State, Effurun.

The singer will resolve the conflict outside of court.

Davido also consented to pay N30 million to the claimant as part of the consent judgement issued in a N2 billion lawsuit brought against him. This amount would be paid within seven days of the conditions of settlement being executed, and would go towards the claimant’s unpaid legal bills.

According to sources, the claimant, through his lawyer, Kelechi Onwuegbuchulem, asked the court in suit EHC/183/2023 to award N2 billion in general damages against Davido.

The claimant requested N150 million in legal and professional expenses, as well as N30 million to cover the cost of filing the lawsuit.

David Adeleke a.k.a. “Davido” and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

Consequent upon an extensive discussion and negotiations to have the matter resolved amicably, the parties have mutually agreed to perform at the “Warri Again Concert” edition on October 4, 2024.

In the consent judgment, parties further agreed that the sum of $94,500 which the claimant had already paid to the defendants, will be considered for the performance at the event.
