Our living condition is getting worse under Tinubu- APC party chieftain speaks out

Dr. Salihu Lukman, a former national vice chairman for the any Progressives Congress (APC), said that under President Bola Tinubu, Nigerians’ living standards are deteriorating as poverty has soared beyond any reasonable expectations.

In a statement released on Monday titled “Disturbing Signals: Open Letter to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Lukman characterised the majority of the President’s actions made since taking office as unsettling.

He criticised the way policy efforts are handled, particularly when it comes to the exchange rate problem.

Some of us anticipate that decisions about the currency rate will be a key component of the government’s overall economic strategy, according to Lukman. Now, it appears that a lone decision to float the naira without a clear economic strategy has been made.

“As a result, the value of the Naira is falling. The economy is under a lot of strain from inflation due to the elimination of subsidies as well as the rising cost of transportation. Living circumstances are deteriorating as a result. The prevalence of poverty will be high at this rate, exceeding any reasonable estimates.

The party leader continued by saying that President Bola Tinubu’s waning commitment to battling corruption was evidenced by the appointment of Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, as the party’s national chairman.

Additionally, Lukman called Tinubu’s ministerial picks a total letdown.

The President, according to Lukman, has shattered Nigerians’ hopes with the calibre of the ministers he has chosen.

The caliber of your appointments is the third unsettling indicator, he continued. Sincerely, Your Excellency, one of your strong points during the 2023 election campaigns was that you know where to look for talent. The perception was that you were taking your time to choose Minister nominees because it took you more than eight weeks to do so.

With all due respect to everyone you nominated, many Nigerians, including party members, were disappointed. Any intelligent person can see that politics took precedence over all other considerations; talent cannot be argued with. As it stands, both as party members and as Nigerians, our hopes for your administration have failed.
