Tinubu does not care if Nigerians are suffering- PDP

The eight National Youth Service (NYSC) participants who were recently kidnapped by unidentified gunmen have been the target of a scathing attack from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is now ruling the affairs of the country.

According to sources, on Friday of last week, gunmen believed to be terrorists abducted the eight corps members along a highway in Zamfara State. Since then, the kidnappers have sought N4 million in ransom from the corps members’ families.

In a statement released on Monday by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, it was claimed that the ruling party was oblivious to Nigerians’ security in response to the development.

“The Peoples Democratic Party further went on to reveal that President Tinubu and his government do not care if its country people are suffering with no solid commitment towards the safety of lives and properties of its citizens despite the slaughter of over 500 Nigerians in Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kaduna and other states around the country, with a huge number of people being kidnapped since May 29, 2023,” according to the statement released.

“Another obscene testament to the APC government’s insensitivity towards the security, safety, and wellbeing of citizens is the failure of the APC government to take decisive action since the abduction of up to eight NYSC corps members who were on their way to Sokoto State for their youth national service.”

Regarding the general economic problems plaguing the country, the party bemoaned the fact that “Nigeria is at the edge of the precipice under the Tinubu-led APC hold which lacks the acceptability and followership of citizens.”

The current hardship brought on by the increase in fuel prices “has created an atmosphere and feeling of absence of governance in the country,” the party claims.

Digging deep into the released statement, the PDP further revealed that they are aware of the serious disconnect between the government and the Nigerian people due to ill-considered and hastened implemented policies that have brought terrible hardship, horrifying insecurity, and a general sense of apprehension that is already endangering the peace, unity, and corporate existence of our nation.”
