Rema and other Artist win big at 2023 Headies Awards- Details inside

In a ceremony full of pomp and celebrations, the 16th Headies Awards took place on Sunday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, USA.

Celebrating the African Renaissance was the theme of the event, which was hosted by Terrence J. and Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro.

With their spectacular performances, Odumodublvck, Young Jonn, Wande Coal, Kcee, Black Sherif, Asake, and others enthralled the crowd.

Rema took home the Best Male Artist of the Year Award, while Asake, who won the highly coveted Next Rated category, walked away with a brand-new automobile.

The same thing happened to Odumodublvck after he was chosen Rookie of the Year: he got a house in Lagos.

After much debate on social media, Director K received the prize for Best Music Video of the Year instead of Blaqbonez or TG Omori.

Blaqbonez stated that “TG Omori and I are still the best directors” as he accepted the Best Rap Album of the Year trophy for his album “The Young Preacher.”

Nevertheless, the co-host, actress Osas Ighodaro, declared halfway through the program that the ceremony had ended and that just roughly 13 categories remained to be awarded.

Best Female Artiste, Best Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best R&B Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), Headies Viewers’ Choice, Best East African Artiste of the Year, and Best North African Artiste of the Year are among the categories that weren’t honored during the ceremony.

Other categories include Best International Artist of the Year, Best Alternative Album, Best R&B Album, Best Southern African Artist of the Year, and Best Central African Artist of the Year.

Ayra Starr received the Best Female Artiste award, Victony got the Best Recording of the Year, and Chike’s “The Brother’s Keeper” won Best R&B Album of the Year, according to a later announcement made by the event’s producers.

Burna Boy and Rema are currently tied for the most wins (three each), following the announcement of the winners of the remaining categories.
