Court Set to Deliver Judgement on Sanwo-Olu’s Election Victory

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Lagos state has picked a date to deliver Judgment on petitions brought before it after the 2023 election ended.

The verdict will be announced on September 25th, Monday. This information was revealed on Saturday by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor.

Rhodes-Vivour claimed in a post on X that he had been informed that the decision would be made on Monday.

He wrote on Facebook, “We have just learned that the tribunal will deliver its decision on our election petition on Monday, September 25.”

Rhodes-Vivour and Abdul-Azeez Adediran, the Peoples Democratic Party’s nominee, each submitted a separate petition to the tribunal.

The two parties are requesting that the tribunal invalidate the reelection of All Progressives Congress (APC) governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, citing electoral fraud among other allegations.

Each of them desires to be named the election’s winner.
