NLC Proposes Indefinite Strike, Soon to Take Action

The Labour Party has warned all of its supporters that a lengthy strike will shortly begin. The party is asking all of its supporters to prepare their homes by stocking up on necessities before the organized labour’s anticipated indefinite strike.

According to Wakenews, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) may declare an economic shutdown on October 3 to force the government to accede to their requests for improved working conditions.

Obiora Ifoh, the Labour Party’s national publicity secretary, released a statement on Wednesday in which the party’s leadership also endorsed the idea of an ongoing strike.

The party claims that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is unconcerned about the difficulties facing the country as a result of the elimination of gasoline subsidies.

The party bemoaned the fact that some children have dropped out of school because their parents are unable to pay their tuition because of the country’s economic situation.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have resolved to engage in an industrial action that will begin on Tuesday, October 3. The party wholeheartedly supports this decision.

“Labour Party is shocked that the government, which currently generates more than a trillion naira per month and claims to have eliminated subsidies on petroleum items, finds it challenging to meet workers’ expectations.

“Nigerians live in a country with hard economic realities; the inflation rate is close to 30%, a dollar costs more than N1000, and the per capita income has declined.

“While crime is increasing daily, many families are pulling their children out of school due to a tuition hike.

“We believe the Nigerian employees have demonstrated sufficient tolerance and understanding.

Ahead of a protracted mass action until victory is assured, we are also using this means to inform all of our members and supporters to fill their houses with the essentials. No retreat, no compromise.
