Cost of music video production now 30million naira- Basket Mouth laments

Basketmouth, a well-known comedian and music executive, has expressed dissatisfaction with the rapidly increasing cost of producing music videos in Nigeria.

He claimed the industry normal fee was now between 27 and 30 million Naira, instead of 7 or 7.5 million.

The comedic actor explained that rather than spending more than N25 million to make a traditional video, he chose to create a holdup video for the lead single from his next album, “Party,” due to the price increase.

Basketmouth recently talked in an interview with Lagos’s The Beat 99.9 FM.

“This isn’t the official video for my song ‘Party,’ featuring Peruzzi,” he declared. I had no idea how hard the economy had hit us, so it’s just like a holdup. I used to create videos for 7–7.5 million Naira two years ago. It’s between 27 and 30 million Naira now.

Since I’m an Igbo man, my initial thought was, ‘Well, Bright, if you’re spending N25 million on visuals, you must be hoping for an increase, right? Then, make a hold-up video and take additional action to boost traffic.
