Tinubu requests assistance from the UN in the war against terrorism

Given that terrorism has a negative impact on international peace, causes human displacement, and contributes to rising levels of poverty, President Bola Tinubu has asked the UN for assistance in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.

On Thursday, he made the appeal during a meeting at the State House with Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office on Counter-Terrorism.

The president pointed out that terrorism has repeatedly undone advancements in development and elevated instability in families and communities.

According to him, the UN needs to handle things consistently when it comes to the developing world.

“We are grateful for what you have been doing. We are aware that you are capable of much more, despite the numerous demands and difficulties. We can give you an “A” for teamwork but a “B” for physical support.

”You must take additional action since terrorism not only poses a real threat to democracy but also to growth. We cannot achieve wealth and growth until we eradicate terrorism.

We must equally consider all sides of the issue, which, as I have already stated, is the where, how, and when of terrorism. NAN reported.

According to Tinubu, insurgencies in some parts of the world present a problem that must be met with the prompt and thorough provision of the appropriate solutions.

“We must consider our people’s fundamental requirements. We are in peril if we must tap into the few resources we now have without the consistent backing from organizations like the UN, the President warned.
